It takes several days to perfect one mat and may even take longer due to the lengthy process of plant dying and drying the yarn in the rainy reason. First, the yarn is spun from organic cotton and an Ayurvedic herbal dye is prepared to create each colour. Once dyed, the cotton is washed and dried naturally. From here, a skilled artisan uses both his bare hands and a traditional handloom to delicately craft a yoga mat, before applying a natural rubber layer on the base to ensure the mat grips to the floor.

We are eternally grateful that we are able to access these remote villages and bring these pieces of art to our modern world to facilitate our connection to self, yoga practice and the divine. Our continued support of these villages allows them to stay living in the villages with their wives, children and communities, continuing their traditional ways of living, rather than needing to travel hours into big cities to seek out work that does not align with their souls purpose. Their artisan skills are utilised to provide their source of income with the preservation of this art. • Hand wash with a mild natural soap or detergent. The ideal is soapnuts, which are dried berries of the soapberry plant that produce a gentle cleaning lather.
• Dry in shade and keep out of direct sunlight, as this can cause fading.
• Avoid storing in plastic bags or boxes. It is best to keep fabrics breathing and stored in natural wood boxes or cloth bags.
